Midland Open Water Championships 2011 - Sunday 10th July
On Sunday 10th July 7 swimmers from Halesowen Swimming Club braved the waters at Bosworth for the 2011 Midland Open Water Championships. Well done to all swimmers who took part.

Swimskills Clinic - Saturday 26th February
On Saturday 26th February 58 swimmers from Halesowen Swimming Club attended a Swimskills Clinic with Bill Furniss, coach to World Record Holder and double Olympic Gold Medallist, Rebecca Adlington. Bill has been at the cutting edge of international swimming for 30 years and is Britain’s most successful ever swimming coach.
Using the unique Swimskills Method, developed by Bill our swimmers went through a carefully structured progression of drills and skill-work based on the essential principles of aquatic propulsion. Swimmers were coached to build up the whole skill to make real improvements in their swimming technique. Swimmers also attended specific land conditioning training sessions, listened to lectures and saw videos all run by Bill's team. In line with the club's ethos, the focus was entirely on the development of skill and technique and at each clinic swimmers learnt the key components of swimming technique that they will need in order to swim fast!

2010
November saw the culmination of two years of hard work to complete the installation of an electronic scoreboard and timing system at Halesowen Leisure Centre. The club secured a grant in 2009 for £5,000 from the Halesowen Area Committee Capital Fund to buy a new starting system, wireless electronic timing and a laptop. In 2010 the club secured a further £10,000 from the Sport England Small Grants Programme to buy an electronic scoreboard and supporting hardware. The scoreboard in in use at every Halesowen Swimming Club training session and the timing system is used in club competition.

Fun Biathlon - Sunday 28th June 2009

Over 200 Members, families and friends from Halesowen Swimming Club
attended the annual Fun Biathlon on Sunday 28th June. Teams
completed the run in the morning followed by the swim in the
afternoon. Many thanks go to all the organisation behind the
scenes and to members for their customary support - no better way to
celebrate our junior team reaching the final of the Junior League!

Loughborough Training Session - January 2009

Halesowen swimmers
trained at Loughborough in January 2009 to gain valuable long course experience.
66 swimmers were in attendance - a tremendous turnout. This is
the first of 17 x 50m training sessions available to swimmers in
2009 and builds on similar long course session numbers run for the
past two years.
