Hiring: Junior Head Coach

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Junior Head coach at our talented and successful swimming club with the guidance of our highly qualified and experienced Head Coach. 

​

This is a great opportunity to train several county,  regional and national qualifiers. This broad approach is flexible and can be tailored to the successful applicants’ needs.

 

Halesowen Swimming Club is celebrating its 60th anniversary and over the years has produced international level athletes, along with numerous British and National Qualifiers. This year we had over thirty swimmers qualify at County level and around twenty at Regional, this number is expected to double over the coming years.

 

As an inclusive swimming club, the club has swimmers starting right from LTS. We hold our own club championships / Time Trial Series throughout the year and attend various targeted meets during the season.

 

We are seeking an ambitious, committed and experienced swimming coach to organise, develop and deliver a coaching programme to meet the needs of the junior squads, assisting in enabling swimmers at all levels to reach their full potential.

The ideal candidate should: 

- Be passionate about swimming and the development of children in the aquatic environment. 

- Be enthusiastic, punctual, energetic. 

- Have the ability to adapt and be flexible. 

- Work well alongside others. - Connect and work well with our swimmers.

- Support and work closely with the Head Coach. 

- Be self-motivated when required to work alone. 

- Be able to use excellent communication and organisational skills to maintain swimmer and parent focus.

- Show an interest in professional development and willingness to expand knowledge.   

 

The club provides support and encouragement for further training opportunities, which would support the CPD of the successful candidate. The role will include regular weekend training sessions, with attendance to some meets and competitions. Please request the job description for further information.

Place of Work: Halesowen Leisure Centre (predominantly)

Responsible to: Club Head Coach/Club Chairperson 

​

Hours of work: to be negotiated around the club and coaches requirement 

​

Salary: competitive/negotiable dependent on experience (must be self-employed)

​

Qualifications : Minimum ASA/UKCC Level 2 Coaching swimming Qualification or Swim England

Swimming Coach Certificate. (We will consider applicants with Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification or Level 2 Award in Teaching Aquatics if applicants are looking to complete their coaching certificates)  Recent experience and knowledge of coaching/teaching swimmers within the stages of the Athlete Development Support Pathway (ADSP) - Learning to Train, Training to Train and above, in a club environment. Covering those age group swimmers, youth swimmers and those at County and Regional level. • Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop Certificate (We can assist in obtaining this.) We will undertake an enhanced DBS check for this post
